Things to Know About my Air Fills

  • Safety is my number one priority in everything I do
  • Before filling any Cylinder, I will perform a cursory visual inspection. This includes checking the remaining Cylinder pressure, an inspection for external damage and ensuring both the Quadrant Sticker and current Hydrostatic Date Stamp are present, in date and valid.
  • I recognise the importance of Clean Air and ensure that the air I deliver to our customers exceeds BS EN 12021:2014, at all times.
  • Quarterly Air Quality Testing is performed and you may ask to see the latest Air Quality Certificate, which is held in the Workshop.
“Top up” fills are charged at my standard Air Fill prices.

Oxygen Clean Air

My Compressed Air is Double Filtered so as to be – what is sometimes referred to as – “Clean Air”, that is Compressed Breathing Air that is suitable for filling into Oxygen Clean Cylinders.

Is It O2 Clean?

Your Cylinder will need to be O2 Clean to be filled with Nitrox, Oxygen or Trimix. Cylinders which are not in valid Oxygen Service will not be filled with anything other than Air.

Nitrox & Trimix Fills

Enriched Air Nitrox and Trimix are available to 300 Bar, and I am fully qualified in Gas Blending and Compressor Operation. I can accurately Partial Pressure blend your choice of Nitrox or Trimix mixes up to and including 100% Oxygen, often while you wait. I can also top off existing mixes, if more appropriate.

Maximum pressure for Nitrox fills up to 70% Oxygen is 300 Bar.

Maximum pressure for Nitrox fills above 70% Oxygen fills is 232 Bar.

Bring Your Certification Cards
You will be asked to provide appropriate certification for the blend you are purchasing.

Oxygen Clean
Your cylinder and valve must be “Oxygen Clean”. During the fill process 100% pure Oxygen will be used. Cylinders which are not in valid Oxygen Service will not be filled.

Good Fills
I fill Cylinders as slowly as I can to minimise heat generation and maximise the Working Pressure following cool down to ambient temperatures. The normal period for cooling a filled Cylinder allowing it to return to ambient is a minimum of 1 hour, therefore if you wish to have a “good fill” you should factor in more time, ideally overnight (Rule of thumb — 0.6 of a bar for every degree Celsius). I can fill quickly, while you wait, but there will be a trade off with the resulting final Working Pressure.

300 Bar Fills

Higher pressure fills, to 300 Bar, are available. These types of fills can sometimes be carried out straight away, although customers should allow for the time involved in the process.

PCP Air Rifle, Air Gun and Paintball Gun Fills

I can refill the majority of Air Guns, Air Rifles, Pre-Charged Pneumatic (PCP) rifles and Paintball cylinders / tanks / bottles, provided you have the correct Scuba Cylinder adaptors. I have some of them, but not all, so to be safe, please bring your own.

Maybe you’d like to consider buying a Scuba Cylinder so that you can fill your guns yourself, if you do not have one. I can advise on an appropriate purchase and source it for you at a very competitive price.

Quality Assured Clean Diving Air

The Compressor, Air Filtration and Charging System used here at ppO2 Dive Works allows me to provide clean, dry, breathing quality air up to 300 bar, plus Nitrox, Trimix and Oxygen fills.

Our gas delivery system uses two independent filters to hyper-filter all of the Compressed Air delivered. I provide you with safe and moisture free air with a Breathing Gas Quality that exceeds mandatory minimum standards (BS EN12021:2014). As required by HSE and SITA, I test Air Quality every three months. Please feel free to ask to see the Air Quality Certificate.

All Cylinders Must Be In Test: I will not fill cylinders that are out of test.

Refusal of Service: I reserve the right to refuse to fill Cylinders that I believe are unsafe.

ppO2 Dive Works Cylinder Fill Setup

Clean, pure, accurate gas fills are essential for your safety and are the heart of my business. The key to what I do is not just an obsession with Preventive Maintenance and accuracy, but also the tools I have at my disposal. My Filling Station is brand new, and state of the art; built from the ground up with Safety and Convenience in mind.

The Dive Compressor

I operate a new Coltri Ergo 315 Efficient Line Compressor; this is a Three-Phase Compressor capable of delivering 315 Litres per Minute (11.1 Cubic Feet per Minute) of double-filtered Compressed Breathing Air to 300 Bar Working Pressure.

Air Storage Banks

Four 50 Litre “J” Cylinders are filled to 300 Bar to provide a Bank of Compressed Air for immediate take off, reducing the time for filling, and not solely relying on the Compressor running when you come to the Workshop.

Oxygen and Helium Supply Cylinders

I keep one J Cylinder of Diving-Grade Helium, and two of Diving-Grade Oxygen in the Workshop. I have a large Haskel AGD 30 Booster Pump that allows me to pump Oxygen and Helium to 300 Bar, if required, and into Cylinders of all sizes; more than adequate for your all your Technical Diving needs!

Gas Analysers

I have an Analox ATA Pro Analyser He/O2 for measuring Oxygen, and Helium concentration in Nitrox and Trimix Breathing Gases.

I also have an Analox O2 EII Oxygen Analyser for measuring the Oxygen concentration in Nitrox.
